Closed loop Seams Approximation for Video Compression

چکیده
Seam carving is a content-aware resizing method. Based on a seam carving approach to obtain semantic video compression, the non salient parts of the video are suppressed and the reduced sequence is encoded with H.264/AVC. To avoid a large overhead to encode the seams, the seams are regrouped together and approximated. In this paper, after the approximation, the seams are resynthesized similarly to the process carried out at the decoder side. The resulting information is used to define a new reduced sequence. This closed loop process leads to less geometric deformation when the initial seams are spatially scattered in the

Closed-Loop MPEG Video Rendering
Closed-loop video rendering implies generating video streams in compressed form given as input video streams that are in compressed form such as JPEG or MPEG bit streams. Closed-loop video rendering has signi cant advantages over open-loop schemes including reduced storage requirements which in turn reduces memorydisk swapping time that constitutes a large portion of the time spent in the deskt...
متن کاملSeam Carving for semantic video coding
Compression standards such as H.264/AVC encode video sequences to maximize fidelity at a given bitrate. However, semantic-oriented and content-aware compression remains a challenge. In this paper, we propose a semantic video compression method using seam carving. Seam carving changes the dimension of an image/video with a non-uniform resampling of each row and column while keeping the rectangul...
متن کاملThe asymptotic closed-loop approach to predictive vector quantizer design with application in video coding
The basic vector quantization (VQ) technique employed in video coding belongs to the category of predictive vector quantization (PVQ), as it involves quantization of the (motion compensated) frame prediction error. It is well known that the design of PVQ suffers from fundamental difficulties, due to the prediction loop, which have an impact on the convergence and the stability of the design pro...
متن کاملImproved seam carving for semantic video coding
Traditional video codecs like H.264/AVC encode video sequences to minimize the Mean Squared Error (MSE) at a given bitrate. Seam carving is a content-aware resizing method. In this paper, we propose a semantic video compression scheme based on seam carving. Its principle is to suppress non salient parts of the video by seam carving. The reduced sequence is then encoded with H.264/AVC and the se...
متن کاملNonlocal In-Loop Filter: The Future Way Towards Next-Generation Video Coding?
In-loop filtering has emerged as an essential coding tool since H.264/AVC due to the delicate design in reducing different kinds of compression artifacts. However, existing in-loop filters only rely on image local correlations, where the nonlocal similarities have been largely ignored. In this paper, we journey through the design philosophy of in-loop filters and discuss our vision for the futu...
